Distance to downtown LA: 15 miles (24km)



By Car
    Los Angeles is 15 miles north east of LAX.

    For:

    • Downtown LA take the 405 North then Interstate 10 East.
    • San Fernando Valley join the 405 North from the airport.
    • Orange County take the 405 South from LAX.


Airport Parking Information

Taxi
    Taxis are available from the lower (Arrivals) level of the terminals.

    Journey time to downtown LA is around 30 minutes depending on traffic, but can take a lot longer.

  • Fare approx $30-35.


Train
    A free shuttle bus from the lower level of all terminals serves the Aviation Station of the Metro Green Line.

    The Green Line runs west-east between Redondo Beach and Norwalk. Transfer at Imperial Station for the Blue Line which runs south-north.

    Trains operate every 8-12 minutes from around 5:00am to 10:30pm.

Bus/Van
    There is a huge selection of bus and van services at LAX. Every second person in the Baggage Claim areas seems to be offering some kind of transportation. Be aware use only reputable companies.

    Many companies provide 24 hour van services to LA and surrounding areas. They cost around $22-25 to downtown LA and Pasadena, $35-40 to the Valley. Here is a selection of just some of the services available:

    The ground transportation desk in the baggage claim areas of the terminals provides information on companies and their destinations.

  • The Metropolitan Transportation Authority provides frequent bus services to LA. Details are available from the information desk or on (213) 626-4455.

  • The LAX Shuttle A provides frequent free transfers between all terminals. Stops are on the lower level of each terminal.
