Terminal 1 is in the main airport core alongside Terminal 2 and Terminal 3. By road it is the first terminal reached from Interstate I-190 and has clear signs. It is the United / United Express terminal and also handles Lufthansa's departing flights. (All international flights into O'Hare arrive at Terminal 5.)

The terminal is on two levels, the upper level for departures and arrivals, the lower for baggage claim and ground transportation. Beyond the ticketing area the terminal has two large concourses - B and C. Concourse B is adjacent to the main terminal area, Concourse C is reached by underground moving walkways.

Curbside check-in is available or use the desks in the main ticketing area.

Luggage Carts: Readily available, cost $1.25.

Restrooms: At each end of main terminal area.

Pay Phones: Plentiful around the terminal, some with facilities for hearing impaired users.

Currency: No currency booths in Terminal 1 but mobile carts are available at gates used for international departures.

ATMs: Available in central area of Concourse B. Machines handle most international cards.

Information Desk: Located in the center of the lower level baggage claim area.

Smoking: Not allowed in any area.

Restaurants and Bars: Available in both B and C concourses.

Gates B1 to B18 are for United, B20 and B22 for United Express.

Restrooms: Near Gate B1, opposite B6 and B14, and near B20.

Pay Phones: Throughout the concourse.

Restaurants and Bars: Catering outlets at each end of concourse and in the central area.

Gates C1 to C32 are reached from the B concourse by moving walkways.
